The Spartanburg High School Class of 1970 Scholarship Fund – Established in 1992
Because of the generosity of our classmates, five college scholarships (three of $1,000 and two of $500) have been awarded to deserving Spartanburg High School students. Please consider making a contribution to this fund – it is a special way that we, as a class, can leave a legacy to our school.
There are two very easy ways to make a contribution to this fund:
1. Mail a check in the amount of your choosing to: The Spartanburg County Foundation – 424 East Kennedy Street – Spartanburg, South Carolina 29302. Make the check payable to the Spartanburg County Foundation and in the “for” line at the bottom left of your check please write “S.H.S. Class of ’70 Scholarship Fund”. Your gift may be made “In Memory of” or “In Honor of” any person you choose. You will receive a receipt and letter of thanks from the foundation and your gift is fully tax deductable.
2. You may contribute “On Line” (minimum $50 contribution) simply by visiting their secure payment site at https://www.spcf.org/Ways_Contribute.htm and follow the instructions. Where you are prompted to “Please select a single fund for your gift:” simply choose “Spartanburg High School Class of ’70 Scholarship Fund” from the list. Online gifts can be made “In Memory of” or “In Honor of” any person of your choosing, are tax deductable, and are acknowledged by the Foundation via email.
The balance of the fund at the end of 2009 was $9,833.89 – listed below are the other S.H.S. Classes that have established funds. We might have a hard time being number one (the class of ’44 has $151,901.71! And, they award five $1,000 gifts each year.), but getting to second place would not be difficult at all! Please consider making an annual gift to this very special program that awards continued excellence at Spartanburg High School.
